Borussia Mönchengladbach have initiated discussions with Bochum’s Brazilian left-back Bernardo. These talks are still in the early stages, and no agreement has been reached as Gladbach continues to explore the market for a left-back, with other candidates also being considered.
Bernardo’s current contract with Bochum runs until 2026, and the 29-year-old is interested in a move to Borussia Park. Last season was one of Bernardo’s best personally, as he was statistically among the top left-backs in the league, despite Bochum finishing in the relegation playoff. In his first season back in the Bundesliga, the former RB Leipzig defender made 33 appearances.
If the move goes through, Bernardo would be the second Bochum player signed by Gladbach this summer, following the free transfer of Kevin Stöger. Like Bernardo, the Austrian midfielder was also statistically one of the best in his position in the league.
