Wrexham are in pursuit of new signings, but one of Phil Parkinson’s targets seems to be heading to another League One club. Wrexham have only made one signing so far this summer, which was highly celebrated by the fans: goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo. Okonkwo, who left Arsenal, has signed a three-year deal with Wrexham, marking an ideal start to their summer transfers.
However, more signings are necessary, and several rumored targets have recently been ruled out.
Wrexham are set to miss out on Marc Leonard
While it’s unclear how seriously Wrexham pursued some of these names, they were reportedly on the club’s radar. Another target, Marc Leonard, now appears to be moving elsewhere. In May, reports suggested that Wrexham were interested in signing Leonard from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Leonard impressed during his two seasons on loan at Northampton Town and now seems poised to leave the Seagulls permanently. Wrexham viewed Leonard as a midfielder who could immediately excel in League One and potentially become a star.
However, David Anderson of The Mirror reports that Birmingham City are now close to signing Leonard. Birmingham is expected to pay around £450,000 for Leonard as they prepare for their League One campaign, aiming for promotion back to the Championship, with Leonard seen as a key player to help achieve that goal.
