Now that Joe Mixon and the Cincinnati Bengals have been married for six years, it’s time to elevate a new player to the position of starting running back for the team. With Mixon moving to the Houston Texans, a starting spot in one of the best offenses in the league is vacant. Though two players have emerged as the front-runners, it remains to be seen who will be considered the RB1 when the season begins. Chase Brown and Zack Moss are these two prospective starters.
This offseason, Moss, a former Indianapolis Colt and Buffalo Bill, inked a two-year contract with Cincinnati. Although he has never been among the greatest backs in the league, if he is selected as the team’s starter, it may be his finest chance to date.
Brown, a second-year back that the Bengals selected with the 163rd pick in the 2023 draft, is his rival for that place. Although he played little in his debut season, Brown had an outstanding final collegiate season at Illinois. In fantasy football, it may seem best to avoid ambiguous split backfield situations, but taking advantage of a player’s dropped value could be crucial to winning it all. Due to uncertainty, none of these players is at the top of draftboards, but they might be weekly fantasy starts.
