Shed Seven Achieve UK No. 1 Album for Second Time in 2024, Marking Major Comeback After Two Decades
Shed Seven have secured their second UK No. 1 album of the year with Liquid Gold, solidifying
their status as one of the most successful chart comebacks in British rock. The band, formed in
York in 1990, rose to prominence during the Britpop era with hits like Going for Gold and
Chasing Rainbows. After disbanding in 2003 and reuniting in 2007, their 2017 comeback album
Instant Pleasures marked a return to the Top 10, and A Matter of Time also topped the charts earlier this year. Despite a smaller streaming
presence compared to major artists, Shed Seven’s dedicated fanbase and smart sales strategy, including vinyl releases, propelled
them to the top of the charts. The band joins an elite group of acts, including ABBA, Queen, and
Taylor Swift, to score two No. 1 albums in the same year.
