Australia appoints Technical Coach for Para Alpine 

Expressions of interest are being accepted by Snow Australia for a coaching position with the Australian Para Alpine High-Performance Team.

An experienced, competent, driven, and enthusiastic person would be the most suitable candidate to take on the position of Para Alpine High Performance Team Technical Coach.

With a focus on the World Championship and Paralympic Games every two to four years, the Australian Para Alpine High Performance Team trains year-round, beginning in the Australian domestic winter and continuing through the northern winter on the FIS Para Alpine World Cup Circuit, in order to prepare for the international stage. The role is full-time and involves working with the Para Alpine High-Performance Team. Camps and domestic activities provide links to the growth route. The coach and the Para Program Manager will work together to create an atmosphere that supports athletes’ growth and performance. In order to attain podium finishes at the World Cup, World Championships, and the Paralympic Winter Games, coaches are in charge of guiding and carrying out the Para Alpine Team’s strategy.primarily in charge of organizing and supervising technical on-snow training sessions for a variety of para-athletes throughout the year.

The main objectives of these sessions are the development of technical and athletic skills as well as the creation of a dynamic training environment. Additional duties include coordinating with athlete performance support service providers to provide the greatest possible holistic athlete development in daily training and competition situations, as well as high-performance planning and execution of the team’s annual training and competition plans.

In order for each athlete to realize their full potential on and off the slopes, this position demands dynamic leadership and the capacity to support a healthy team atmosphere and culture. In order to guarantee the best training environment, the Para Alpine Team Technical Coach will need to collaborate with other coaches and teams. They will also need to be a confident communicator with athletes from various backgrounds and athletic development stages, as well as team staff and other program stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Experience coaching FIS Alpine (technical and speed events) or equivalent experience on the Para Alpine circuit
  • Leadership skills to develop and contribute to the development of a High Performance team and to build strong
  • relationships and credibility with athletes, coaches and support staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain one)
  • Ability to travel and commit to the team schedule- domestic an international camps
  • Experience working with Para Alpine athletes, a clear understanding of Para classifications and adapted equipment and FIS rules is preferable but not required
