Aston Villa have signed 21-year-old Katie Robinson following the expiration of her contract with Brighton earlier this month.
Robinson, who made her debut for Brighton in 2020 and had a loan spell at Charlton Athletic, scored 10 goals in 68 appearances for the South Coast club. Her impressive performances earned her five senior England caps under Sarina Wiegman. Next season, she will play under Dutch manager Robert de Pauw, who recently took charge in Birmingham.
De Pauw, speaking about Robinson, said, “I’ve known of Katie since I was head coach of the KNVB WU17s. She played as a winger against my team and caused us a lot of difficulties.” He praised her pace and ambition to “add to her five international caps,” stating that her desire to improve aligns with the club’s goals.
Aston Villa’s Head of Women’s Football, Lee Billiard, echoed this sentiment, saying, “Katie is a player with big potential and we look forward to seeing her in claret and blue.”
