WVU Football Adds Transfer Lineman Walter Young Bear to Boost Offensive Line Depth
West Virginia University football has strengthened its offensive line with the addition of transfer lineman Walter Young Bear, who has committed to the Mountaineers for the 2024 season.
Young Bear, a versatile and powerful offensive lineman, joins WVU after a standout career at his previous program. Known for his size, athleticism, and football IQ, the 6-foot-6, 320-pound tackle is expected to provide immediate depth and competition for the Mountaineers’ front five.
Head coach Neal Brown expressed excitement about the addition of Young Bear, noting that his experience and leadership will be invaluable as the team
looks to build upon its offensive line’s performance in 2024. “Walter brings not only size but also the toughness and mentality we are looking for in our offensive line,” Brown said. “His experience will help us develop a more cohesive and dominant unit.”
The addition of Young Bear is part of WVU’s continued effort to strengthen its roster through the transfer portal, as the program aims for a successful 2024
season. His commitment signals the Mountaineers’ ongoing focus on building a strong foundation in the trenches, which is essential for the success of both the running and passing games.
Young Bear, who previously played at a competitive program, is expected to make an immediate impact in spring camp, where he will compete for a
starting role. Fans can look forward to seeing him suit up for the Mountaineers when they kick off their spring practices next year.
With the addition of Young Bear, WVU continues to bolster its roster as it prepares for an exciting season ahead.
