As the 2024 college football regular season officially comes to a close, players nationwide are beginning to announce their intentions regarding the transfer portal and the NFL draft. This includes members of the Alabama Crimson Tide, who are preparing for their
upcoming Reliaquest Bowl matchup against the Michigan Wolverines. The latest Alabama player to make a move is wide receiver Caleb Odom, who has announced his decision to enter the transfer portal, according to On3 Sports. Odom, a former 4-star recruit from
Georgia, played in all 12 regular season games as a true freshman. Originally recruited as a tight end, Odom transitioned to wide receiver upon his arrival in Tuscaloosa. He became a regular part of the rotation throughout the season, earning a start in Alabama’s game
against Mercer. Odom finished the year with seven receptions for 65 yards. With Odom’s announcement, he becomes the fifth Alabama player to enter the transfer portal, joining defensive lineman Jeheim Oatis, edge rusher Keanu Koht, cornerback Jahlil Hurley, and
wide receiver Kobe Prentice. The transfer portal officially opens on Monday, December 9, and will close on Thursday, December 28. There will also be a spring portal window, which opens on Wednesday, April 16, and closes on Friday, April 25.
As Alabama prepares for its bowl game against Michigan, the Crimson Tide’s wide receiver depth continues to dwindle. In addition to Odom’s departure, Alabama is already without Cole Adams and Jalen Hale due to injury, and has now lost two players to the
transfer portal. As a result, the team is likely to rely more heavily on Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard, with several futures still up in the air.
