Arch Manning Might Be Alabama’s Perfect Transition Quarterback for 2025

FanSided’s Chris Landers suggests that Arch Manning could be the ideal bridge quarterback for Alabama in 2025, filling the role before the

arrival of highly-touted 2026 recruit Keelon Russell. Landers proposes that Manning, who may transfer from Texas, could take over

Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer’s offense, allowing Russell to redshirt and prepare for his eventual starting role in 2026.

Landers argues that Alabama’s current quarterback situation, featuring Jalen Milroe, has been inconsistent, with flashes of brilliance often

overshadowed by costly mistakes. DeBoer, who thrives with quarterbacks capable of executing quick progressions and making accurate throws

—similar to what Michael Penix Jr. showcased at Washington—has struggled to find that fit with Milroe. In Manning, Landers sees a quarterback

who could excel in this system, given his ability to make precise throws and manage the offense effectively.

While Manning’s departure from Texas may seem unlikely—especially with Quinn Ewers expected to enter the NFL draft after 2024—

Landers notes that Manning could still opt to transfer, particularly in the NIL era where lucrative opportunities abound. A program like

Alabama, with its championship pedigree and strong quarterback pipeline, could make a compelling offer to Manning, ensuring a smooth

transition from the post-Saban era. Manning would provide Alabama with a proven leader for one season, allowing Russell time to develop

before taking the reins. If Manning is available, Landers believes Alabama would be wise to pursue him aggressively, securing a

quarterback who could keep the Tide competitive at the highest level while preparing for the future.
