Peter Sterling Makes Stunning Return to Parramatta Eels in New Role – But Not as Coach

Parramatta Eels Legend Peter Sterling Officially Returns as Ambassador of the Eels Foundation

NRL icon Peter Sterling, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the Parramatta Eels, has officially rejoined the club in an ambassadorial role. Sterling, who played 228 games for the Eels and helped lead the team to four premierships in the 1980s, will now represent the Eels Foundation. In his new role, he will support key initiatives aimed at strengthening the club’s Academy & Pathway Programs, football facilities, and community engagement.

Sterling expressed his excitement about contributing to the club’s future, emphasizing the importance of supporting both on-field and off-field growth. “We have the opportunity to support the long-term future and legacy of the Club, ensuring it remains one of the strongest sporting organisations in the country,” he said. While his role is outside of coaching and playing, Sterling also offered his support to new head coach Jason Ryles and the team.

“I’m 100 percent behind Jason and if he ever needs to chat, I’m only a phone call away,” Sterling added. There is a growing sense of optimism at the Eels as the club embarks on a new era under Ryles’ leadership.
