The Texas A&M football program suffered a significant setback on Sunday when five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet, a highly touted prospect from Corona, California, decommitted and instead pledged his future to the USC Trojans. Longstreet had initially committed to the Aggies in April, but following a visit to USC’s campus earlier this month, he ultimately decided to stay closer to home and flip his commitment to the Trojans, announcing his decision via social media over the weekend.
Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 195 pounds, Longstreet is a top-tier recruit in the 2025 class. During his junior year at Centennial High School, he threw for 3,013 yards and 24 touchdowns while also rushing for 645 yards. His performance at the Elite 11 Finals solidified his status as one of the nation’s premier quarterbacks, and he now plans to bring his talents to USC.
This loss is a blow to Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class, which was previously ranked 10th in the country by 247Sports as of Sunday. With Longstreet’s departure, the Aggies are now left without a quarterback committed for the upcoming class.
While A&M does not currently have a five-star recruit in its 2025 class, it is bolstered by 12 four-star commitments, including Texas defensive lineman DJ Sanders and Florida safety Rashad Johnson.
Following a dominant 38-3 victory over New Mexico State, the Aggies now shift focus to their upcoming game against Auburn (4-6, 1-5) in Week 13 as they continue their push for a strong finish to the season.
