Ravens Acquire Diontae Johnson in Trade with Panthers

The Baltimore Ravens have bolstered their offense by acquiring wide receiver Diontae Johnson in a trade with the Carolina Panthers. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday that the deal involves a pick swap, with Baltimore sending a 2025 fifth-round pick to Carolina in exchange for Johnson and a sixth-round selection.

The addition of Johnson, who is in the final year of his contract, strengthens an already potent Ravens offense. Through the first eight weeks of the 2024 season, Baltimore’s offense has been dominant both in the air and on the ground. Johnson, a former Pittsburgh Steeler, brings added versatility to the receiving corps, joining the likes of Lamar Jackson, Zay Flowers, Derrick Henry, Mark Andrews, and Isaiah Likely. His outside presence should complement Flowers’ agility and provide Jackson with a reliable deep threat and boundary weapon.

The move represents a clear upgrade over Rashod Bateman and further solidifies the Ravens’ receiving depth as they pursue a playoff run. Although the team’s defense has faced challenges this season, Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta opted to strengthen the offense, potentially giving Baltimore the ability to outpace opponents in high-scoring contests.
