The Texas Longhorns and Arkansas Razorbacks have released their first student-athlete availability reports ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated game in Fayetteville.
For Texas, edge rusher Colton Vasek and linebacker Morice Blackwell Jr. are listed as doubtful. Vasek has been sidelined since prior to last week’s dominant 49-17 victory over Florida, while Blackwell’s inclusion on the report is unexpected, as there has been no clear indication of when he sustained his injury.
On the Arkansas side, quarterback Taylen Green and running back Ja’Quinden Jackson, a former Texas quarterback, are listed as probable to play. Green, who suffered a knee injury in the Razorbacks’ loss to Ole Miss, practiced throughout the team’s recent bye week. Head coach Sam Pittman expressed optimism about Green’s availability for the game.
“Taylen practiced every day last week, and I believe he’ll be fine,” Pittman said.
In the event Green is limited, Arkansas has confidence in backup quarterback Malachi Singleton. Singleton performed well in relief against Ole Miss, completing 11 of 14 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 44 yards and a score.
“Malachi played extremely well and we’re glad we have him. We have a lot of belief in him when he goes in the game,” Pittman added.
