DeShon Elliott Expresses Love for Pittsburgh, Hopes to Finish Career with Steelers

DeShon Elliott has expressed his enthusiasm for his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and is eager to share that positive experience with others. In a recent appearance on Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey’s Punch Line Podcast, Elliott spoke candidly about the overwhelming support the Steelers receive from their fans. He also shared his hope to finish his career in Pittsburgh, jokingly inviting Humphrey to join him.

“Every away game we’ve had, our fans are there—it’s like 60/40,” Elliott said. “It’s crazy. I’ve never seen anything like it. Honestly, I’d love to play here until I retire. If you ever want to come over [to Pittsburgh] toward the end of your career, you’re welcome!”

Humphrey quickly steered the conversation away, declining to entertain the idea of joining Pittsburgh, especially with the two teams set to face off this week. The three-time Pro Bowler is under contract with the Ravens for two more years, and any suggestion of switching allegiances to their archrival would be ill-advised.

Elliott and Humphrey were teammates in Baltimore from 2018 to 2021. Elliott, a sixth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, left the Ravens in 2022 for the Detroit Lions, then joined the Miami Dolphins in 2023 before signing a two-year, $6 million contract with the Steelers this past offseason.

At 27 years old, Elliott has already proven his worth to the Steelers, leading the team with 64 tackles through nine games. While Humphrey humorously referred to Elliott as a “full-blown traitor” for joining Pittsburgh, Elliott clarified that his departure from Baltimore was not his choice. The Ravens declined to re-sign him after he hit free agency, a fate he noted was similar to that of linebacker Patrick Queen.

However, Elliott has no regrets. He expressed his admiration for the Steelers’ culture, drawing parallels to his time in Baltimore.

“I love Pittsburgh,” Elliott said. “The mentality, the fans, the atmosphere. When I first arrived, I was amazed—driving over the yellow bridges and seeing the stadium. It’s a winning culture here, just like Baltimore. There’s that championship DNA, the gritty work ethic, and a focus on details.”
