The Oklahoma Sooners have suffered from numerous injuries throughout the 2024 season. At several crucial positions, OU is missing key players and starters they expected to have this year.
One of those positions is cornerback. Last season, Gentry Williams emerged as a starter and a significant playmaker on the outside. He played through a shoulder injury and was a major asset for OU when on the field.
However, in 2024, he re-injured his shoulder against Houston on September 7 and has been unavailable since.
During Tuesday’s press conference, head coach Brent Venables confirmed that Williams will miss the remainder of the season, making him the fourth player the Sooners have lost this year. Wide receiver Jayden Gibson, offensive lineman Geirean Hatchett, and cheetah Kendel Dolby have also been sidelined due to injuries.
Williams is a crucial player when healthy. Here’s hoping he can fully recover and contribute to the Sooners next season.
