Controversy arises Amidst San Antonio Brahmas WR Signing

The UFL Championship is in a few days, and the San Antonio Brahmas have signed wide receiver Tavonn Salter. As originally reported by Matty Fresh, Landen Akers was placed on the suspended list in order to facilitate this deal.

All season long, Landen Akers has been a depth player for San Antonio, but when he has been called upon, he has excelled. The Championship will miss having him.

The Brahmas have signed WR Tavonn Salter to his roster in his place. In the 2023 XFL season, he was a member of the Houston Roughnecks and participated in three games. Last year, Salter caught four catches for 47 yards.

Tavonn has extensive knowledge of OC A.J. Smith’s framework. In 2021, while playing together for the Conquerors in The Spring League, Salter caught 16 receptions for 285 yards and three touchdowns. He will now have the chance to perhaps participate in a UFL Championship game.

Matt Seybert Debacle

The Brahmas had originally planned to add TE Matt Seybert to the roster in order to have two tight ends again. Seybert had previously worked with A.J. Smith in The Spring League and spent two seasons as a player for the USFL Pittsburgh Maulers.

Matt’s signing was ultimately vetoed by the league after he took off for Arlington. We’re informed that the matter is probably related to a personnel scenario, even if the UFL hasn’t released any statements on it. Birmingham informed the league that the Brahmas should only be allowed to recruit players who play the same position as San Antonio, given the latter is currently without a wide receiver.

Seybert is quite sad because he traveled all the way to Arlington. Before being informed that he couldn’t sign with a real pen, he had started attending team meetings. Seybert clearly got the short end of the stick in this whole thing, which was clearly mishandled at some point.

The San Antonio Brahmas had to change course as a result of this decision, signing Instead, WR Tavonn Salter.

This weekend, in the UFL Championship, the Brahmas and Birmingham Stallions will square off in St. Louis.

What do you think of Tavonn Salter joining the San Antonio team? Was it wrong of the league to deny Matt Seybert a contract? Tell us in the comments section below or by joining the Discord channel!
