James Talarico Fights Back Against Rumors With Home Security Footage

James Talarico’s campaign has taken an unusual step to shut down rumors surrounding his recent absence from the campaign trail, sharing evidence intended to show that the Texas Senate candidate remained at home rather than staying at a mental health facility in Ohio.

The controversy erupted after Talarico disappeared from public campaigning, with his camp maintaining that he was recovering from a severe case of the flu. His political opponent, Ken Paxton, and several conservative social media users questioned that explanation, fueling speculation about his whereabouts.

The rumors gained further attention after an audio clip and a private jet’s flight-tracking information circulated online. However, no verified connection between the flight and Talarico was established. Elon Musk and Stephen Miller also amplified the claims.

In response, Talarico’s campaign provided screenshots from his home security cameras to The New York Times. The publication reviewed the images, which reportedly showed him at home between October 1 and October 8, but agreed not to publish them over security concerns.

Talarico returned to the campaign trail on October 9, as the Texas Senate race continued to attract national attention. Polling cited in the report suggested he was leading Paxton, who has declined to debate him.

Responding to the controversy, Talarico challenged his opponent with a pointed remark: Paxton had asked for “proof of life,” while Talarico said he was asking Paxton for “proof of spine.”

The dispute has added another dramatic twist to an already tense Senate contest, with questions about Talarico’s absence turning into a broader political battle over credibility and public trust.
