Chad Scott Bids Farewell to West Virginia, Joins Texas Coaching Staff…

Chad Scott, a longtime member of West Virginia’s coaching staff, has officially announced his departure from the program as he prepares to take on a new role as the running backs coach at Texas.

Scott took to social media on Friday to express his gratitude for his time in Morgantown, stating, “It’s been an honor and privilege for my family and I to have called West Virginia home for the past six years. I’m extremely grateful for my time at WVU, the staff, and all the players.”

Since joining the Mountaineers in 2019, Scott has played a key role in shaping the program. He oversaw the running backs and took on multiple responsibilities, serving as WVU’s co-offensive coordinator and run-game coordinator before being promoted to offensive coordinator for the 2023-24 season. Most recently, he stepped in as interim head coach during West Virginia’s bowl game.

Head coach Rich Rodriguez confirmed Scott’s departure on Thursday, following speculation earlier in the week. While Rodriguez and Scott did not work together at WVU, Rodriguez acknowledged his respect for Scott’s coaching abilities. “I don’t know him that well, but I think he’s a really good coach, and he’ll do well with (Steve) Sark(isian),” Rodriguez said.

Scott concluded his farewell message by expressing appreciation for the support he and his family received during his tenure in Morgantown. “To everyone who was a part of our time here and Mountaineer Nation, thank you for your unwavering support.”

As Scott embarks on the next chapter of his coaching career in Austin, West Virginia will now look to fill a key position on its staff as Rodriguez continues shaping his program.
