Medical personnel administered CPR to the fan near the court as concerned spectators looked on. Grizzlies players and coaches gathered in a prayer circle near their bench while the emergency unfolded. The atmosphere inside the arena grew tense as medical staff worked to stabilize the fan.
After receiving treatment on the court, the fan was transported from the arena on a stretcher. According to the FanDuel Sports Network broadcast, the individual was taken to a hospital via ambulance for further medical attention. The nature of the emergency and the fan’s condition were not immediately disclosed.
The Memphis Grizzlies released a brief statement acknowledging the incident but did not provide additional details. “Just prior to the start of tonight’s game, a fan sitting courtside suffered a medical emergency,†a team spokesperson said. “We are sending our thoughts and prayers to the individual involved and are thankful to the first responders and medical staff who provided the necessary care. The start of the game commenced after a delay.â€
Following the medical emergency, players initially paused their warmups and returned to their respective locker rooms. They later reemerged with 15 minutes left on the warmup clock before resuming pregame routines.
The game, originally set for a 7 p.m. CT start, was delayed by approximately 50 minutes. Tip-off ultimately took place at 7:50 p.m. CT after officials determined it was appropriate to proceed.
Despite the emotional start to the evening, the Grizzlies maintained their focus on the court. Behind a strong offensive performance, they secured a 129-109 victory over the Spurs.
