The West Virginia Mountaineers football program has made a significant addition to its defensive lineup with the commitment of standout edge rusher Jimmori Robinson from Texas San Antonio. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive force brings both size and a proven track record of excellence to Morgantown.
Robinson spent four seasons with the UTSA Roadrunners, appearing in 43 games and amassing 110 tackles, 30 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles during his tenure. His production peaked in the 2024 season, where he was named Defensive Player of the Year in the American Athletic Conference and earned a spot on the league’s First-Team Defense.
In his first full season as a starter, Robinson delivered eye-popping stats: 43 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. According to Pro Football Focus, Robinson played 528 defensive snaps in 2024, earning an impressive 78.0 overall grade, with standout performances in run defense (82.1) and pass rushing (86.2). He also tallied 31 quarterback hurries and four quarterback hits, making him a disruptive presence on the edge.
Before his time at UTSA, Robinson honed his skills at Dodge City Community College in 2019, where he recorded 20 tackles and 10 tackles for loss as a freshman. The Virginia native then transferred to Monroe College in 2020, though the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the program from playing that season.
As a senior at Hayfield Secondary School in Virginia, Robinson was a first-team all-state selection, showcasing his dominance on the field early in his career.
After entering the transfer portal on December 28, Robinson quickly became one of the most sought-after defensive players available, drawing interest from a wide range of programs. Ultimately, he narrowed his choices to West Virginia and Virginia Tech, choosing the Mountaineers as the destination for his final season of eligibility.
Robinson’s addition gives West Virginia a dynamic edge rusher who can help bolster their defensive front and create havoc for opposing quarterbacks. With just one season of eligibility remaining, Robinson is poised to make an immediate and lasting impact on the program.
