Ravens to officially sign Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker

**Steelers Overhaul Linebacker Room for 2024 Season**

The Pittsburgh Steelers have completely revamped their linebacker unit for the 2024 season, a multi-year project by Omar Khan and the team’s front office. Last year’s group of inside linebackers was the strongest in years, but injuries halted their progress. A prime example is Kwon Alexander.

After a strong 2022 season with the New York Jets, Alexander joined the Steelers and became one of their top defenders over nine games. He tallied 41 tackles, one sack, five tackles for loss, forced a fumble, and brought athleticism and physicality to every play.

Unfortunately, a torn Achilles ended Alexander’s 2023 season after just nine games. While he is still rehabbing, a reunion with the Steelers seems unlikely. He is expected to find a new team in 2024 once he is medically cleared.

One potential suitor is the Steelers’ rival, the Baltimore Ravens. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report suggests that the Ravens could use Alexander as a cost-effective addition to their front seven.

“Given his injury history and age—he’ll turn 30 in August—Alexander should be available at a team-friendly price,” Knox wrote. “A return to Pittsburgh is unlikely, as the Steelers have signed Patrick Queen and drafted Payton Wilson to strengthen their linebacker corps. However, the Baltimore Ravens could potentially use Alexander to help replace Queen.”

Health remains the key factor for Alexander, who has struggled to complete a full season throughout his career. If he can stay healthy in 2024, he could significantly benefit the Ravens or any team he joins.

Despite Alexander’s desire, the Steelers are unlikely to re-sign him. The team focused on improving their inside linebackers this offseason, signing Patrick Queen to a record free-agent deal and drafting the promising Payton Wilson. Unless injuries hit the position hard in 2024, the inside linebacker group will be a team strength, leaving no room for Alexander. However, he could be a valuable asset to their fiercest rivals, the Ravens.
