West Virginia University football head coach Rich Rodriguez has announced the addition of Henry Weinreich to the coaching staff as the nickels/sams coach.
“Henry played a key role in our success at Jacksonville State, and joining us at West Virginia is a great opportunity for his young coaching career,” Rodriguez stated.
“He knows our staff and our system well, and I know he will contribute heavily to our future success.”
Weinreich brings extensive experience, having worked with WVU defensive coordinator Zac Alley at Oklahoma, where he served as a defensive analyst focusing on linebackers and safeties.
During his time there, he contributed to the development of two All-SEC performers, including consensus All-American Danny Stutsman.
Before his time at Oklahoma, Weinreich spent four seasons at Jacksonville State (2020–23), first as a graduate assistant and later as a defensive analyst working with linebackers. Under his guidance, three players earned all-conference honors.
Weinreich’s coaching resume also includes stints at West Georgia, Rhodes College, and Washington University, where he developed multiple all-conference performers.
A former linebacker and safety at Rhodes College, Weinreich was a four-time all-academic athlete and contributed to the program’s 2013 Southern Athletic Association championship.
Weinreich holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Rhodes (2017), a master’s degree in sports management (2021), and an MBA (2023), both from Jacksonville State.
This hire reunites Weinreich with Rodriguez and bolsters the Mountaineers’ defensive coaching staff with a proven and familiar asset.
