The West Virginia Mountaineers continue to bolster their roster through the transfer portal, adding Colorado State linebacker Chase Wilson for the 2025 season.

Wilson, a seasoned veteran, announced his commitment to WVU on Friday evening via social media.

Wilson brings a wealth of experience to Morgantown as he prepares for his sixth collegiate season. After joining Colorado State in 2020, he appeared in five games over his first two seasons. His breakout came during the 2022 season when he played in all 12 games,

recording 29 tackles. He solidified his role as a starter over the next two years, posting impressive stats, including 205 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveriesacross 25 games.

Thanks to NCAA eligibility rules, Wilson qualifies for a sixth year. The 2020 season did not count toward his eligibilitydue to the COVID-19 pandemic, and he used a medical redshirt in 2021 after an early-season injury. He will have two years to play one season in the Mountaineers’ defense.

Wilson’s leadership and production will be a significant boost to West Virginia’s linebacker corps, bringing veteran experience and playmaking ability to the unit.

His proven track record as a starter at Colorado State suggests he will make an immediate impact for the Mountaineers in 2025.
