Layne Bussell Drops shocking statement on Tennessee…

Layne Bussell Steps Down as TN Rush AAU Director to Focus on High School Coaching, Transitioning Role to Josh Agee

Coach Layne Bussell has announced that he will step down as director of the Tennessee Rush AAU program to avoid any potential conflicts of interest involving players who attend Smith County High School, where he also coaches. Bussell made the decision to prioritize the experience and development of all student-athletes in the Rush program and at Smith County High.

In his statement, Bussell emphasized that he will remain actively involved in the TN Rush program as a coach but is handing over the director’s responsibilities to Coach Josh Agee, effective immediately. “This change ensures the best possible experience for all the student-athletes in the Rush program and those who will join in the future,” Bussell explained.

The transition marks a new chapter for the TN Rush program, as Agee takes over leadership duties. Bussell expressed confidence in Agee’s ability to guide the program while maintaining its commitment to player development and competitive excellence.

The program is set to release team rosters and coaching assignments for high school age groups in the next 24 hours. Bussell thanked athletes, families, and the community for their patience and support during this organizational shift.

TN Rush remains dedicated to providing top-tier opportunities for basketball players across the state, and the leadership transition is aimed at ensuring a seamless and conflict-free environment for its participants.
