Not too long from now, the San Francisco 49ers will have to make a difficult choice.
Recently, trade speculations have frequently highlighted San Francisco, with top receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s future still unclear. Although it appeared that he will sign with the 49ers or Pittsburgh Steelers, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports also mentioned the Washington Commanders as a potential destination.
“An incessant subject of trade rumors this offseason, Aiyuk is reportedly still in long-term contract talks with the San Francisco 49ers, attending but not partaking in training camp while (half-heartedly?) pushing for a trade to a team that’ll meet his demands for top-end money,” Benjamin stated.
“Ultimately, the Pittsburgh Steelers are among the final clubs to have a true connection to the All-Pro, so it’s just as possible that he will remain put as that he will be transferred.
“The current guess is that Aiyuk suited up for the defending NFC champions again since San Francisco has a history of allowing holdouts to get ugly before eventually resolving them (see: Deebo Samuel). Possible matches are the Steelers, Washington Commanders, and Los Angeles Chargers.”
As soon as trade speculations began to surface, Washington was associated with Aiyuk. The most likely scenario for Aiyuk appears to be playing for Pittsburgh or San Francisco, but don’t rule out Washington just yet.
The saga’s impending conclusion appears to be the only thing that is certain.
