BYU running back Kason Krebs has been dismissed from the football program after police identified him as a suspect in several lewdness incidents in Provo. According to the Provo Police Department, Krebs was linked to three separate reports of lewd behavior that occurred in recent weeks near the Smith’s grocery store at 300 N. 100 West. Community tips helped investigators identify the 18-year-old as the individual allegedly involved.
Police spokesperson Janna-lee Holland said each incident involved a man exposing himself in public and engaging in lewd conduct before fleeing the area on foot. Officers responded to each report but did not locate the suspect at the time. After identifying Krebs, officers made contact with him on Thursday, though he was not taken into custody because the offenses are considered potential class B misdemeanors under Utah law.
Investigators have referred two misdemeanor lewdness charges to the Provo City Attorney’s Office for review. While the legal process moves forward, Krebs’ status with the BYU football program changed swiftly. As of Thursday night, his name no longer appeared on the team’s online roster.
BYU confirmed his dismissal in a statement provided to KSL. Jon McBride, associate athletic director for communications, said Krebs was removed from the team for violating team rules, though the statement did not reference the police investigation. The university has not offered further comment as the case continues to develop.
